VMRO-DPMNE Leader: New Bill on Territorial Division of Macedonia Questions Its Unitary Nature Skopje. If the Bill on Territorial Division of Macedonia is preserved the way it is now, the unitary nature of the country will be questioned, said Nikola Gruevski, leader of the largest oppositional party in Macedonia VMRO-DPMNE (Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization – Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity), for FOCUS News Agency. “According to many analysts, there is a danger that the state system of Macedonia might be questioned as well”, added Gruevski. “The attitude of the Macedonian citizens at the moment reveals that they will massively back up the referendum. All public opinion polls are indicative of this fact. Still, days of severe pressure and threats on the part of the authorities that want to avoid the referendum, are coming, said VMRO-DPMNE leader. According to Nikola Gruevski, the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) is constantly trying to assert that the people who are against decentralization will not succeed. “In reality, there are no such people. All the people are in favour of the referendum, although most of them do not agree just with some of the decisions in the Bill”, said Gruevski.
