Muslim Albanians to convert a Church into a night club
September 1, 2005 (Serbianna) --Church of Christ the Savior in Pristina has been attacked multiple times by the Muslim Albanian mob, damaged by explosive devices, desecrated and surrounded by tent but on July 15 this year a proposal was introduced before the Muslim-dominated Pristina municipal assembly with four possibilities.
According to this Islamic "urban" proposal, the Church of the Christ the Savior is suppose to become either a night club, an art gallery, a museum or, as a long shot, remain the destroyed church that was damaged in March 2004 when Albanian Muslim pogroms of Christians across Kosovo were instituted.
Recently, two Christian teenagers have been slain by an Albanian drive-by attackers while numerous low-level attacks by Muslim Albanians persist throughout Kosovo as an Islamic intimidation method.
According to the decision of the Pristina municipal assembly, the decision on the final adoption of proposals is expected to be made at the end of September.
However, only recently did an Albanian source leak this secret Muslim plan to an unnamed Serbian Orthodox Church representative.
Radojko Mitrovic, a Christian, is the only representative in the Muslim-dominated Kosovo's capital municipal assembly present at the secret session and the Serbian Orthodox Church is interested to hear his views on the matter, according to a source.
Mitrovic refused to make any comments on the matter.
Christians are routinely slain across the Muslim-dominated Kosovo province. In 2003, entire Christian family was axed to death by Muslim Albanians.
Serbian Orthodox Church representatives say that it was an Albanian source that confirmed that a secret conversion proposal exists for the church.
Authorities that directly own the church, the Diocese of Raska and Prizren, have not been notified by anyone of the proposals but keenly remember previous attempts to take this last remaining Christian Church in the Muslim dominated capital of Kosovo away from the Serbian Orthodox Church. Previous attempts have been prevented by the international administration that runs this Serbian Province.
Immediately after the withdrawal of Serbian forces from Kosovo on July 31, 1999 Albanian Muslims detonated a strong explosion by the church but the church withstood the bombing.
According to the KIM Information services, any change in the function of the church is absolutely unacceptable because the building is owned by the Serbian Orthodox Church.
"The Church has neither the intent nor the right to convert its buildings, whose foundations have already consecrated, into night clubs or galleries" says KIM.
In the last 6 years since the UN took over the administration of the Kosovo province, Muslim Albanians have destroyed over 160 Christian Churches and have expelled over 150,000 Christians out of the province.
Under the UN protection, only 6,000 Christians have returned to Kosovo.
Kosovo's majority Muslim Albanians demand independence and see the presence of Christians in this province as an obstacle to their demands.
