TIRANA, Dec. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- Macedonian police killed one memberof an armed group composed of foreign citizens and seized two others and a considerable volume of arms late Friday in Tetovo, northwestern Macedonia, the MIA news agency reported Saturday.
"After receiving the information about the presence of the criminal armed group, led by Jakupi Lirim, citizen of Serbia and Montenegro, Interior Ministry took measures for their arrest," thereport quoted sources from Macedonian Interior Ministry saying.
According to the sources, the group, aware of the police operation, opened fire from bazooka and automatic guns, injuring one policeman, who has been out of life danger so far.
The police fought back immediately after the attack, killing one of the group and arresting two others, while the injured Jakupi was at large, the sources said.
During the operation, the police also seized a bazooka, 12 bazooka shells, an automatic gun, a semi-automatic pistol, two tactical vests, 500 bullets and a knife, the sources said. Enditem
